I got an online quote from eBike Motorcycle Insurance for my classic bike which has been off the road for a few years. On the Rider Details page, you're only asked if you've had any claims, accidents or convictions within the last five years. I haven't, so filled in the form accordingly. There's no mention of providing proof of No Claims Discount on this page. I accepted the quote they gave me calculated from the information which I'd given them. I paid the full amount online using my credit card.
My policy came through the post two days later with a letter telling me to send them proof of No Claims Discount within 14 days, otherwise my policy would be cancelled and I'd lose my money. Obviously I couldn't give them proof of NCD within the last two years as my bike had been off the off the road longer than that!
I tried to phone them several times to explain my situation but couldn't get through. I sent them two e-mails which they didn't reply to. I then sent them a letter requesting a refund of my money which has also been ignored. Grrrr........ I feel like I've been conned. Lesson learned the hard way. Ebike = Cheap insurance with service to match. Beware!
I later had an online quote from Footman James after giving exactly the same information. A quick phone call to them (I got through straight away) confirmed the price quoted online was the price I'd have to pay without sending proof of any NCD. Luckily, Footman James is a local company and they even had the documents ready for me to collect personally within a couple of hours following the inconvenience and loss of money caused by Ebike.

Really competitive price, almost £50 cheaper than the 2nd best quote. hopefully the service will be as good as the cost if i make a claim.
