Email
Short for 'electronic mail' email is one of the most popular ways of communicating today. Many employers, associates and friends will expect you to have an email account, if not several.
What is email?
Emails are documents transmitted over the internet from one computer system to another. When you send an email it will be stored in an electronic mailbox until the recipient fetches it. To fetch an email you must have an email account and an email address. These usually follow the format of yourname@somewhere.com
How do I get email?
Your Internet Service Provider (the company you use to connect to the internet) will often provide you with an email address, but if not then there are plenty of companies providing free email accounts that you can sign up to on the spot.
Why email?
Emails are good because they're quick, and you can send them to lots of people at once. They save paper and are very low in cost. If you travel, or want to get in touch with someone in a remote place then email is the way to go as email booths and cafes are springing up on even the smallest islands.
